Hiccup made a lot of devices designed to shoot things and while hitting Toothless was partially lucky shot, he still had to get in the ball park of shooting at a high speed black thing on black with little white dots. So yes, he can actually shoot things and shoot them well enough. He's not going to be doing trick shots in quick succession while riding a wild beast, but he can hunt and stuff like that.
He has been doing archery for a while in Aather already, so he was pretty good at stationary targets, but now he won't need to practice from the ground up with moving targets.

So this is RIGHT AFTER I lost my leg. And while I was out, the dragons were invited into the village. So most likely whatever made me LOSE my leg is what allowed the villagers to accept dragons.
So either after the Dragon Queen, there were still problems, or it was DURING the thing with the Dragon Queen.
But....who bit me. The only dragon I've seen with the giant jaw for that is...

AND THEN I GET OUTSIDE AND MY FEELINGS. Just...everyone's happy to see ME. Everyone's happy with the DRAGONS. My dad is looking at me with approval and Gobber is joking and Astrid is kissing and EVERYTHING IS WONDERFUL AND GLORIOUS.
And kind of sad AT THIS POINT because it makes him miss home...but also makes him ache because of the state of the home he's in NOW. Because Heliodor broke a bit and it hurts that it's like that and he just wants the home feels back and don't know what to do. '-'
But...but maybe he can? Because he fixed Berk and that was going pretty bad. So...maybe.

HICCUP DOES A LOT OF VOICE OVERS IN THE SHOW. They tell us things. I do not know how to put these in memories besides 'and then Hiccup learned THIS fact' and that's boring and I don't want to do headcanon AND THESE YEARS HAPPENED memories because ongoing canon.
So he just gets an info dump! This skills includes all of Hiccup's cultural knowledge, the culture of vikings and their religion. What is normal for a viking, what isn't, and he'll know them as DEFINITES.
He'll also know the culture as it applies DIRECTLY TO BERK. Because Berk was mostly isolated from the rest of the culture save for the occasional political or Trader Johann visit. Most people didn't want to go there much because DRAGON RAIDS ALL OVER. So Berk developed a few of their own things, like the Snoggletog holiday and their weird names and such.
And know whatever he mentions in an opening or closing voice over that is not DIRECTLY related to a person. He mentions legends ad sayings, so it's those things he knows and understands.
Somethings he'll know.
Hiccup is the name given to the runt. Once upon a time, he'd have been left out for exposure. =D However, in Berk, anyone who MIGHT help is worth keeping because low population as is plus parent feels.
The legend of Tyr and what that means about left handed people, that it's a bad omen, though not bad enough to get someone thrown out. But...haha, yeah, MIGHT HAD HIDDEN THAT LEFT HANDEDNESS.
Who Loki and the Midgard Serpent is! (For hilarity with Loki and realizing Thorfinn is a Viking.)
What Norse names mean! Astrid, Erika, Thorfinn, the actual meanings, not just vague thoughts.
Why some Berkians get FANCY NAMES and why some get stuff like...Fishleggs. Fancy names go to those who seem like they'll be particularly strong and don't NEED protection from gnomes and trolls.

Meaning
So yeah, there's gonna be THAT little discovery for Hiccup in season two. I am so excited, you guys. WHAT DO WHEN THE GUY YOU WERE FORGIVING WAS TOTALLY PLAYING YOU.
And that is the thing. Hiccup...was. Fastest way to get Hiccup to cool down on anything is to look AFRAID in front of him. And Mildew knows how to play Hiccup. SOMEHOW this old man knows exactly what buttons to push to get Hiccup riled up and how to manipulate his feelings. He can't quite make Hiccup a puppet, but he's definitely very, very good at provoking a genuine reaction out of Hiccup besides just his sass. It's part of why Hiccup got to hate him so much. Mildew threatened his things and Mildew just knows how to cut straight through all of Hiccup's walls to get something real out of him.
Mildew just also knew how to get Hiccup to listen to his BETTER side too. First the three prong attack of making them 'similar' with Fungus being taken, getting Hiccup to owe him, and making himself useful to help Toothless. Then throughout this whole adventure, while he does tell Hiccup how to get to Toothless, he also let's his fear show. (Which I think is real...? But he might have amped it up.) Which was one part, made Hiccup realize how very human Mildew was and thus harder to detach himself, and the other part catharsis for Hiccup because YES, GET TO LAUGH AT THE MISERY OF THE GUY I HATE. And he was. Oh, he was. But it was a release of that bitter anger, at least enough to cool him down some.
In comparison to Defiant One and Snotlout, Hiccup was very much acting more distant with Mildew. He was detached and pretty much just acknowledging him when he had to while with Snotlout, there was a lot more of being AWARE of where Snotlout is and what he's doing. Which, funnily enough, made him act more cool and confident around Mildew. Since he was operating under 'I am on my own' sort of mentality instead of 'I need to be working with someone.' So he was take charge, but not as controlling.
But the cooling is good because then Hiccup COULD shift gears and Mildew did become a 'someone I am working with.' Which is when they were dealing with the dragons Alvin released. It was just that moment of '....WELP, I GUESS HE IS ACTUALLY MY RESPONSIBILITY NOW.' And then he was getting more controlling and now he couldn't be mad at Mildew because then he couldn't take responsibility for him. So a lot of anger got let go.
Not ALL the anger though.
So it got directed at someone else.
AND FIANLLY ALVIN GOT SOMETHING OUT OF HICCUP THAT WASN'T SASS. Alvin was already on the cusp of getting Hiccup to hate him because constant threat of his things, but unlike Mildew, Alvin had yet to truly get a genuine reaction out of Hiccup, just the reaction through his shields. So it was enough distance that Hiccup kept his cool. BUT NOPE, there was this anger still that needed to go somewhere and then ALVIN BROUGHT UP HIS DAD AND HIS RUNT STATUS.
And Hiccup was just.
'You know what.'
'FUCK THIS GUY!'
And really, really, really wanted Toothless just to eat his face because REALLY. He had nearly been crushed by a cave in, had hope of finding BABY NIGHT FURIES AND THINGS FOR TOOTHLESS, to find out it's a trap, be kidnapped, had Toothless threatened, had to WORK WITH MILDEW, and then kind of, sort of had to forgive him, and he couldn't find Toothless, and he's been up for more than two days, and now this guy is giving him guff, but you know what, HE IS ALLOWED TO FUCKING SET ALVIN ON FIRE WITH A DRAGON SO WHY THE HELL NOT.
Too bad Hiccup really doesn't do anger well. '-'
BUT END RESULT, REALLY FUCKING HATE ALVIN.
And feel really, really bad because he thought maybe Mildew was starting to UNDERSTAND. That maybe he worked through that anger and hate and maybe there was something to be done. Mildew was the one most against dragons, but he was bonding with that Nadder, he was listening to Hiccup, and maybe, maybe he could do the impossible with people too. And Gobber said that Mildew said he was sorry. MILDEW WAS GETTING IT.
And yet he failed Mildew. ):
(And that is why Season Two will be amazing with that reveal.)
Also this whole thing is kind of amazing because it's just sort of parallel to the whole bonding with Toothless thing?! He sees a thing he should despise be afraid and because of that, he let's go of old prejudices in order to work with it. Just one worked and the other was Mildew and Mildew is a liar and it's just the two extreme examples of what could happen if Hiccup is too trusting. On one hand, END A WAR, GET A DRAGON. On the other hand, GIVE YOUR ENEMIES THE ABILITY TO TRAIN DRAGONS.
I'm also waiting when we get told that Hiccup is like the new dragon queen via slaying the Red Death because SERIOUSLY BOY. That save at the end also included the Nadder HICCUP JUST TRAINED A FEW HOURS AGO, and Thornado, who was mostly trained by Stoick. That is not training for that save, that is DRAGONS ARE GONNA SAVE THIS THING BECAUSE THEY WANT TO SAVE THIS THING. And other maybe Firewyrms, no dragon that wasn't previously riled (having been caged or losing their baby for example) has even come close to attacking Hiccup personally unlike other people. Astrid has to wrestle down a Monstrous Nightmare, meanwhile Hiccup just HOLDS OUT A HAND WHILE IT'S IN A FIGHT and nope, it'll stop because it's Hiccup. There's having a technique, and then there's just being ridiculous. Sudden show of trust would probably be more a confusing then suddenly WILL DO WHATEVER YOU WANT.

From 20:34 to 21:35.
There's this end bit, but part of this memory is some headcanon because the important part is the VOICE OVER sentiment. Which Hiccup has been developing the whole season and this is how he realizes this concept and then it gets all symbolic with the flight and the voice over saying this thing.
It actually starts directly after Memory 33, which has a few days in it. Getting home, explaining what happened, trying to sleep because so tired, b-but not managing much because too many thoughts with guilt and family and despair, and then going to work on the parade the next day, trying to pretend he's cool. And trying to figure out what to do with Toothless because he's still alone and what will he do with the flight parade.
But then Hiccup actually thinks over what happened over the past few days, and then what's happened pretty much over the whole season, though it's all vague and more just the feelings and then it just kind of clicks that maybe you really don't need to be alike to be family.
He brings up a new parade idea to Astrid that instead of the kids leading a herd of the same type of dragons, they just train the herds to follow, but the KIDS fly together. (Which wasn't the original plan as seen earlier on, so this idea was decided AFTER and it has to do with Hiccup feels.) And I like to imagine Astrid just smiles and is all like 'I was wondering when you'd get it' because Astrid is cool like that. (Maybe even started training the dragon herss like that.) OBVIOUS DECISION IS OBVIOUS FOR FAMILY FEELS. (Toothless also probably thought of it too and was just 'oh Hiccup, duh.) Warrior girl and dragon are better than Hiccup at feels.
So Hiccup goes home, finally gets some sleep so he's not a total wreck for parade day. Wakes up, sees the Night Fury notes. Which is still sad and then goes to burn them and then the end scene linked above.

Meaning
Haha, season two will be terrible.
But as I said, this voice over at the end has basically been building up over the WHOLE SEASON. Hiccup has slowly been growing closer to the kids. Usually it's just Astrid getting them or someone else getting them or he's joining them, but it's no until the finale where HICCUP actually asks the other kids to come with him to Bork's cave. This whole season, Hiccup has been slowly adjusting that there are people who care about who. Who will help him and stand beside him and respect him.
And that it's all right for him to ASK for that help and expect it to come. It's a sense of belonging and instead of the loneliness he's felt for so long, he actually feels a part of something.
He has a family. Not just Toothless, not just the strained relationship with his father, and the awkward Gobber. But a bunch of people there for him.
Unfortunately it will just make his current state in relationship to Heliodor all the more sad. Because Rider worked HARD to get over his own mental blocks at the beginning with Heliodor, who also constantly assured him that they were there. The biggest problem he had in connecting to Heliodor was all on HIM and he realized it. So he tried to connect and fought to get himself comfortable and just when he was, the turn over happened and Heliodor was full of people who are all closed off. And he tried to scramble for what he was just getting and tried to make them feel welcomed and it...didn't...work, he feels like.
So he feels like he lost it and then he gets this memory and while it's full of happy feels, it will just make him MORE unsure on where he stands with Heliodor and it's kind of terrible.

Meaning
WELP, THAT WAS A NICE KICK TO MY DESPAIR FEELS. It's not so much the nearly dying or the dragon training thing. Though it did have some interesting facts! It was scary while he was almost dying, but he didn't, so whatever.
But it was just a lot of...all those negative feels of early memories. Which kind of really sucks because Rider has only gotten a few memories of being treated like the outcast by his friends, but has a lot more impactful memories of them BEING FRIENDS. But it's just a reminder of what it was like. Mocked and immediately assumed to be terrible and Gobber seems to be trying to be comforting, but he kind of sucks and it's just terrible.
It's a kick to the useless feelings Rider has been feeling around Heliodor and kind of gets worse when this memory is likely to be taken so closely with the previous memory because there are so many GOOD family feels making the current bad feels worse and now he'll just remember...all those lonely feels he had before hand on top of it.

So in the final of the series, Hiccup did not sleep at all over the course of two days. Possibly three days if he ever tried to sleep after reading about the Aisle of Night. But seriously, the boy nearly dies several different times, running around, doing research, and while he's not thinking at his BEST, he's still functional and running around, doing things.
There was also the movie where Hiccup had a schedule of Morning: Dragon Training > Afternoon: Toothless time > Evening: Learning information about dragons for training sometimes > Night: Do more work in the forge on the flying rig. Not to mention he didn't seem to have a chance to sleep after he won the right to slay the Monstrous Nightmare because Nest things happened and then he had to PLAN THINGS and he was probably up two days when he fought the Red Death.
So really, Hiccup can run on very little sleep. He might be more volatile while that way, but he's pretty damn functional. So now Rider can run around for two days without sleep, but could probably keep going anyway if he has reason too. And with his project intake and how he uses projects to distract himself, that will probably start happening a lot. :')
Hiccup made a lot of devices designed to shoot things and while hitting Toothless was partially lucky shot, he still had to get in the ball park of shooting at a high speed black thing on black with little white dots. So yes, he can actually shoot things and shoot them well enough. He's not going to be doing trick shots in quick succession while riding a wild beast, but he can hunt and stuff like that.
He has been doing archery for a while in Aather already, so he was pretty good at stationary targets, but now he won't need to practice from the ground up with moving targets.

HICCUP DOES A LOT OF VOICE OVERS IN THE SHOW. They tell us things. I do not know how to put these in memories besides 'and then Hiccup learned THIS fact' and that's boring and I don't want to do headcanon AND THESE YEARS HAPPENED memories because ongoing canon.
So he just gets an info dump! This skills includes all of Hiccup's cultural knowledge, the culture of vikings and their religion. What is normal for a viking, what isn't, and he'll know them as DEFINITES.
He'll also know the culture as it applies DIRECTLY TO BERK. Because Berk was mostly isolated from the rest of the culture save for the occasional political or Trader Johann visit. Most people didn't want to go there much because DRAGON RAIDS ALL OVER. So Berk developed a few of their own things, like the Snoggletog holiday and their weird names and such.
And know whatever he mentions in an opening or closing voice over that is not DIRECTLY related to a person. He mentions legends ad sayings, so it's those things he knows and understands.

Meaning
So yeah, there's gonna be THAT little discovery for Hiccup in season two. I am so excited, you guys. WHAT DO WHEN THE GUY YOU WERE FORGIVING WAS TOTALLY PLAYING YOU.
And that is the thing. Hiccup...was. Fastest way to get Hiccup to cool down on anything is to look AFRAID in front of him. And Mildew knows how to play Hiccup. SOMEHOW this old man knows exactly what buttons to push to get Hiccup riled up and how to manipulate his feelings. He can't quite make Hiccup a puppet, but he's definitely very, very good at provoking a genuine reaction out of Hiccup besides just his sass. It's part of why Hiccup got to hate him so much. Mildew threatened his things and Mildew just knows how to cut straight through all of Hiccup's walls to get something real out of him.
Mildew just also knew how to get Hiccup to listen to his BETTER side too. First the three prong attack of making them 'similar' with Fungus being taken, getting Hiccup to owe him, and making himself useful to help Toothless. Then throughout this whole adventure, while he does tell Hiccup how to get to Toothless, he also let's his fear show. (Which I think is real...? But he might have amped it up.) Which was one part, made Hiccup realize how very human Mildew was and thus harder to detach himself, and the other part catharsis for Hiccup because YES, GET TO LAUGH AT THE MISERY OF THE GUY I HATE. And he was. Oh, he was. But it was a release of that bitter anger, at least enough to cool him down some.
In comparison to Defiant One and Snotlout, Hiccup was very much acting more distant with Mildew. He was detached and pretty much just acknowledging him when he had to while with Snotlout, there was a lot more of being AWARE of where Snotlout is and what he's doing. Which, funnily enough, made him act more cool and confident around Mildew. Since he was operating under 'I am on my own' sort of mentality instead of 'I need to be working with someone.' So he was take charge, but not as controlling.
But the cooling is good because then Hiccup COULD shift gears and Mildew did become a 'someone I am working with.' Which is when they were dealing with the dragons Alvin released. It was just that moment of '....WELP, I GUESS HE IS ACTUALLY MY RESPONSIBILITY NOW.' And then he was getting more controlling and now he couldn't be mad at Mildew because then he couldn't take responsibility for him. So a lot of anger got let go.
Not ALL the anger though.
So it got directed at someone else.
AND FIANLLY ALVIN GOT SOMETHING OUT OF HICCUP THAT WASN'T SASS. Alvin was already on the cusp of getting Hiccup to hate him because constant threat of his things, but unlike Mildew, Alvin had yet to truly get a genuine reaction out of Hiccup, just the reaction through his shields. So it was enough distance that Hiccup kept his cool. BUT NOPE, there was this anger still that needed to go somewhere and then ALVIN BROUGHT UP HIS DAD AND HIS RUNT STATUS.
And Hiccup was just.
'You know what.'
'FUCK THIS GUY!'
And really, really, really wanted Toothless just to eat his face because REALLY. He had nearly been crushed by a cave in, had hope of finding BABY NIGHT FURIES AND THINGS FOR TOOTHLESS, to find out it's a trap, be kidnapped, had Toothless threatened, had to WORK WITH MILDEW, and then kind of, sort of had to forgive him, and he couldn't find Toothless, and he's been up for more than two days, and now this guy is giving him guff, but you know what, HE IS ALLOWED TO FUCKING SET ALVIN ON FIRE WITH A DRAGON SO WHY THE HELL NOT.
Too bad Hiccup really doesn't do anger well. '-'
BUT END RESULT, REALLY FUCKING HATE ALVIN.
And feel really, really bad because he thought maybe Mildew was starting to UNDERSTAND. That maybe he worked through that anger and hate and maybe there was something to be done. Mildew was the one most against dragons, but he was bonding with that Nadder, he was listening to Hiccup, and maybe, maybe he could do the impossible with people too. And Gobber said that Mildew said he was sorry. MILDEW WAS GETTING IT.
And yet he failed Mildew. ):
(And that is why Season Two will be amazing with that reveal.)
Also this whole thing is kind of amazing because it's just sort of parallel to the whole bonding with Toothless thing?! He sees a thing he should despise be afraid and because of that, he let's go of old prejudices in order to work with it. Just one worked and the other was Mildew and Mildew is a liar and it's just the two extreme examples of what could happen if Hiccup is too trusting. On one hand, END A WAR, GET A DRAGON. On the other hand, GIVE YOUR ENEMIES THE ABILITY TO TRAIN DRAGONS.
I'm also waiting when we get told that Hiccup is like the new dragon queen via slaying the Red Death because SERIOUSLY BOY. That save at the end also included the Nadder HICCUP JUST TRAINED A FEW HOURS AGO, and Thornado, who was mostly trained by Stoick. That is not training for that save, that is DRAGONS ARE GONNA SAVE THIS THING BECAUSE THEY WANT TO SAVE THIS THING. And other maybe Firewyrms, no dragon that wasn't previously riled (having been caged or losing their baby for example) has even come close to attacking Hiccup personally unlike other people. Astrid has to wrestle down a Monstrous Nightmare, meanwhile Hiccup just HOLDS OUT A HAND WHILE IT'S IN A FIGHT and nope, it'll stop because it's Hiccup. There's having a technique, and then there's just being ridiculous. Sudden show of trust would probably be more a confusing then suddenly WILL DO WHATEVER YOU WANT.

There's this end bit, but part of this memory is some headcanon because the important part is the VOICE OVER sentiment. Which Hiccup has been developing the whole season and this is how he realizes this concept and then it gets all symbolic with the flight and the voice over saying this thing.
It actually starts directly after Memory 33, which has a few days in it. Getting home, explaining what happened, trying to sleep because so tired, b-but not managing much because too many thoughts with guilt and family and despair, and then going to work on the parade the next day, trying to pretend he's cool. And trying to figure out what to do with Toothless because he's still alone and what will he do with the flight parade.
But then Hiccup actually thinks over what happened over the past few days, and then what's happened pretty much over the whole season, though it's all vague and more just the feelings and then it just kind of clicks that maybe you really don't need to be alike to be family.
He brings up a new parade idea to Astrid that instead of the kids leading a herd of the same type of dragons, they just train the herds to follow, but the KIDS fly together. (Which wasn't the original plan as seen earlier on, so this idea was decided AFTER and it has to do with Hiccup feels.) And I like to imagine Astrid just smiles and is all like 'I was wondering when you'd get it' because Astrid is cool like that. (Maybe even started training the dragon herss like that.) OBVIOUS DECISION IS OBVIOUS FOR FAMILY FEELS. (Toothless also probably thought of it too and was just 'oh Hiccup, duh.) Warrior girl and dragon are better than Hiccup at feels.
So Hiccup goes home, finally gets some sleep so he's not a total wreck for parade day. Wakes up, sees the Night Fury notes. Which is still sad and then goes to burn them and then the end scene linked above.

Haha, season two will be terrible.
But as I said, this voice over at the end has basically been building up over the WHOLE SEASON. Hiccup has slowly been growing closer to the kids. Usually it's just Astrid getting them or someone else getting them or he's joining them, but it's no until the finale where HICCUP actually asks the other kids to come with him to Bork's cave. This whole season, Hiccup has been slowly adjusting that there are people who care about who. Who will help him and stand beside him and respect him.
And that it's all right for him to ASK for that help and expect it to come. It's a sense of belonging and instead of the loneliness he's felt for so long, he actually feels a part of something.
He has a family. Not just Toothless, not just the strained relationship with his father, and the awkward Gobber. But a bunch of people there for him.
Unfortunately it will just make his current state in relationship to Heliodor all the more sad. Because Rider worked HARD to get over his own mental blocks at the beginning with Heliodor, who also constantly assured him that they were there. The biggest problem he had in connecting to Heliodor was all on HIM and he realized it. So he tried to connect and fought to get himself comfortable and just when he was, the turn over happened and Heliodor was full of people who are all closed off. And he tried to scramble for what he was just getting and tried to make them feel welcomed and it...didn't...work, he feels like.
So he feels like he lost it and then he gets this memory and while it's full of happy feels, it will just make him MORE unsure on where he stands with Heliodor and it's kind of terrible.

Meaning
WELP, THAT WAS A NICE KICK TO MY DESPAIR FEELS. It's not so much the nearly dying or the dragon training thing. Though it did have some interesting facts! It was scary while he was almost dying, but he didn't, so whatever.
But it was just a lot of...all those negative feels of early memories. Which kind of really sucks because Rider has only gotten a few memories of being treated like the outcast by his friends, but has a lot more impactful memories of them BEING FRIENDS. But it's just a reminder of what it was like. Mocked and immediately assumed to be terrible and Gobber seems to be trying to be comforting, but he kind of sucks and it's just terrible.
It's a kick to the useless feelings Rider has been feeling around Heliodor and kind of gets worse when this memory is likely to be taken so closely with the previous memory because there are so many GOOD family feels making the current bad feels worse and now he'll just remember...all those lonely feels he had before hand on top of it.
Mundane Skill: Up forty-eight hours and still trucking. (Form: A bay leaf. Eat it whole.)
So in the final of the series, Hiccup did not sleep at all over the course of two days. Possibly three days if he ever tried to sleep after reading about the Aisle of Night. But seriously, the boy nearly dies several different times, running around, doing research, and while he's not thinking at his BEST, he's still functional and running around, doing things.
There was also the movie where Hiccup had a schedule of Morning: Dragon Training > Afternoon: Toothless time > Evening: Learning information about dragons for training sometimes > Night: Do more work in the forge on the flying rig. Not to mention he didn't seem to have a chance to sleep after he won the right to slay the Monstrous Nightmare because Nest things happened and then he had to PLAN THINGS and he was probably up two days when he fought the Red Death.
So really, Hiccup can run on very little sleep. He might be more volatile while that way, but he's pretty damn functional. So now Rider can run around for two days without sleep, but could probably keep going anyway if he has reason too. And with his project intake and how he uses projects to distract himself, that will probably start happening a lot. :')
